Shift Technician
Report to: Shift Team Leader
Responsible for: N/A
Principal Accountabilities
Responsible for ensuring the power plant and site are operated and maintained efficiently and in accordance with company procedures, good practice, health & safety requirements, and the environmental permit.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the Shift Team Leader and other staff in the safe & efficient operation of the plant/site and attending to equipment breakdowns.
- Carry out plant inspections, adjustments, readings and maintain all data accurately to ensure compliance with the Environmental Permit.
- Manage and monitor plant consumables, ensuring stock levels are maintained and liaising with procurement to replenish supplies.
- Supervising contractors, reviewing RAMS, and ensuring all work is carried out in line with company legislation and processes.
- Maintain accurate record of equipment stock, including receiving goods to site, storing in the correct location, and filing delivery notes.
- Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters whilst complying with strict Health, Safety and Environmental rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
- Using a DCS/SCADA system to start, stop and monitor turbines, boilers, pumps, conveyors etc., reacting to warnings/alarms promptly.
- Running the plant in the absence of the Shift Team Leader or when they are occupied with other tasks.
- Identifying and resolving equipment faults, reporting issues and rectifications to the Shift Team Leader.
- Conducting regular planned preventative maintenance (PPM) inspections on equipment.
- Be punctual, reliable, and flexible to cover sickness, holiday, and extra shifts as and when required.
- Operate a forklift for tasks such as changing APC bags and loading them onto a trailer, and unloading deliveries etc.
- Identify areas within the plant for improvement to increase efficiency/availability.
- Actively involved in tasks during planned and unplanned outages.
- Housekeeping, ensuring the plant is tidy and tools are stowed away after use.
- Actively develop yourself in the process and running of the plant to attain progression within the role of Technician.
- Work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner and promoting good Health, Safety and Environmental practices, reporting any concerns or defects to management.
- Any other tasks the company may reasonably expect.
